{"id":73,"date":"2024-02-26T17:20:59","date_gmt":"2024-02-26T17:20:59","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ellenoerlemans.com\/?page_id=73"},"modified":"2024-03-09T12:43:06","modified_gmt":"2024-03-09T12:43:06","slug":"visie","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/ellenoerlemans.com\/en\/visie\/","title":{"rendered":"Vision"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-28f84493 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"has-palette-color-1-color has-text-color has-link-color has-large-font-size wp-elements-151e261dc55443dac110116cd4aa1008\"><strong>Vision on Public Affairs and my services<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"has-palette-color-8-color has-palette-color-1-background-color has-text-color has-background has-link-color wp-block-list wp-elements-74f675f5e9653b0d7b71f55c1020a479\">\n<li class=\"has-medium-font-size\">At the heart of public affairs lies&nbsp;<strong><em>an outward focus.&nbsp;<\/em><\/strong>Be curious about what is going on in society, know the relevant political shifts, understand the perspectives and opinions of stakeholders and be interested in public opinion.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-medium-font-size\">The challenge is to understand how important these developments are for your organization's success.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Subsequently, determine whether and how these themes can be influenced, how to respond to public opinion, or how to resolve obstacles in legislation and regulations.<br><br><strong>Let me clarify my vision and way of working through a number of statements about Public Affairs<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Advocacy can and must be open, honest and transparent<\/strong><\/h5>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>It is the responsibility of policymakers and politicians to examine and balance all interests, pros and cons, as well as facts and figures.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Each individual can and may represent their interests factually and clearly.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Those who are not big and powerful have to be creative and daring to be heard, <strong>a wonderful challenge!<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Public Affairs isn't just about discussions over coffee<\/strong><\/h5>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>PA work starts with a good reputation and trust.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Establishing influence begins with stakeholders being aware of who you are and what you stand for!<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In the lobbying process, remember that 'life is give and take'; always seek a win\/win situation.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Regardless of the complexity or frustration in a process, stay positive and strive towards a solution.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Networking is hard work!&nbsp;<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Public Affairs means showing your true colours&nbsp;<\/strong><\/h5>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>A successful Public Affairs process starts with a clear, well-substantiated vision or opinion.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Bright colors and no shades of gray; nuances, ifs and buts do not work.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Meetings and publications are often exciting, not everyone will agree with you. <strong>Good preparation is a must!<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<div style=\"height:85px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-medium-font-size\">Public Affairs is knowing both friends and enemies<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Strategic stakeholder management is the core of every public affairs strategy.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Who is important, who is influential, what do my stakeholders say and think.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Take a comprehensive approach, considering colleagues in the value chain, NGOs, associations, industry groups, and politicians. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Evaluate the need to involve more supporters or to convince opponents.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>The challenge: how am I seen and heard!<\/strong>!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>The influence of collaboration and coalitions<\/strong><\/h5>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Lobbying often achieves greater impact if you collaborate with your stakeholders. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The challenge lies in maintaining a sharp and distinctive positioning.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Coalitions have the potential to amplify or improve public support.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Consider collaboration with or support from opinion leaders or emerging influencers.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Collective efforts foster creativity, leading to unexpected and innovative solutions.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Public Affairs is an opportunity for scientists<\/strong><\/h5>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Scientists conduct groundbreaking, future-oriented research. They work with passion on major breakthroughs, new connections and applications.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>An unprecedented amount of knowledge and expertise has been collected, particularly wuthin consortia such as the Dutch 'Groeifondsen\u2019 (Growth Funds).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>While scientists value social impact, they often discuss these matters within their scientific circles, among like-minded individuals.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The public domain can learn a lot from scientists. They are independent, can explain comples problems and assess the value of solutions.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Scientists and knowledge institutions ensure your story is heard and understood by non-experts!<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Importance of external profiling for startups and innovations<\/strong><\/h5>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>As an innovator you naturally find your product or solution unique and exceptional.
